Jeannine Therese Buda (née Covyeow)
(July 1, 1940 – September 30, 2026)
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jeannine Therese Buda (née Covyeow) on September 30, 2026, at the age of 86 years. She is survived by her two loving children: Colin (Martine) and Kelly, her grandchildren: Katherine (Jonathan) and Benjamin (Angélique) and her great-grandchildren: Alexis-Jason “A.J.”, Jade, Damien, and Mélody. She is also survived by her dear niece, Carol de Lilly, and her “California family,” as well as her niece, Adriana, and nephews, Lance, Ricky, Alan, and Peter.
Jeannine is pre-deceased by her husband, Alexander Buda, her most-beloved mother, Mary Irene Swinbank, her older sister, Rose Marie (Covyeow) Benjamin, and her younger brother, Lyle Walter Covyeow.
She is also pre-deceased by her special friend, Ambrose “Bud” Macdonell.
Jeannine’s love of her family is only surpassed by her life-long passion for horses as her beloved pets and in their care, riding, and driving. While not academically inclined, Jeannine was incredibly intelligent and competent at anything she put her hand to. She continued a life-long journey of learning on her favourite topics. Jeannine was a very talented cook, baker of her world-renowned pastry, gardener, painter, and craftswoman. She really enjoyed playing all types of card and board games, particularly bridge and Scrabble. She enjoyed old school country music and especially loved Jim Reeves. As a young woman, she worked for “The CNR” in accounts and later as a substitute teacher in Roxborough, QC.
Jeannine’s family would like to express their immense thanks to the staff at the Hawkesbury General Hospital, Drs. Simon and Richard McCall, Dr. Michel Thibodeau, the Glengarry Memorial Hospital, and the Maxville Manor for their kind and compassionate care and support over the years.
A private service will be held at the request of the family. Jeannine will be laid to rest at the St. Columba’s Cemetery (resting place of her mother and brother) in Pembroke, Ontario at a future date.
