Obituary of Sharon Lee Lacombe

Sharon Lee (Wile) Lacombe was born and raised in Windsor, NS and passed away in Cornwall Hospice on 28 June 22 at the age of 78, after a lengthy but determined battle with cancer. Her immediate and loving family was at her side.

Sharon was the wife of Martin D. Lacombe of Alexandria ON, the mother of Douglas Barry Lacombe of Calgary and the daughter of Frederick E. Wile and Vivian E. (McCann) Wile of Windsor, NS.

Additional survivors are her sisters; Geraldine Findlay (Trenton ON), Judith Wile (Sydney, NS) Wendy Chadwick (Sydney, NS), Pamela Wile (Halifax, NS) and brother Frederick Wile (Halifax, NS) as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Edgehill Girls’ School in Windsor she relocated to Moncton NB where she met her husband. Together they resided across the country and internationally in Brazil and Australia. In 1989 they relocated to the Glen Robertson and Alexandria, ON areas and maintained their permanent residence locally.

After playing the leading role in raising son Doug to his early teens, Sharon was employed in the retail sector in many areas of the country, including, Moncton NB, Winnipeg, MB, Saskatoon, SK, Toronto, ON, and the local Glengarry area.

In addition to her homemaking, she also was an active and devoted volunteer with the Glengarry District Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and undertook other volunteer activities with the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Cancer Society.

Her other interests included travel, gardening, cooking and baking, walking through Cooper Marsh trails as well as the trails on their home property, especially with their loving dog Coco. She was a willing and helpful partner during the years they raised sheep as a hobby and had many tales to tell, mostly amusing, of her experiences with them,

She will be sadly missed by those nearest and dearest to her and who held her in the greatest of respect.

A 'Celebration of Sharon’s Life' will be held at Glengarry Funeral Home, 580 Main Street South, Alexandria, ON, (613) 525-3400 on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 1 – 4 PM with tributes begining at 3 PM.

A private family committal service will be held in the Family Plot at the St. Martin of Tours Cemetery in Glen Robertson, ON.
