Obituary / Nécrologie

Died peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa.  Beloved wife of the late Ronald Gareau and the late Claude André.  Loving mother of Ginette Prud’Homme (Luc), Gilles Gareau (Linda), Christiane Gareau-Vallée (Marc Vallée) and Jean-Yves Gareau.  Proud grandmother of Émilie MacDonell (Kevin), Josée Prud’Homme (Timothy Johnson), Vanessa Gareau, Christine Prud’Homme (Martin Ducharme), Anik Prud’Homme (Alexandre Gauthier), Francis Vallée and Camille Vallée; and great-grandmother of Mickaël, Isabelle and Harley.  Survived by her sisters Rita Beaupré (late Rolland), Pauline Martin (late Don) and Thérèse English (late Réal).  Predeceased by her parents Georges and Philomène (née Larocque) Théoret; her sisters Georgette Lalonde (late Éloi), Jeanne Boisvenue (late Donat) and Marie-Ange Hamelin (late Maurice); and her brothers Léo (late Jeannette), Rhéal (late Rose), Roger (Lucy), Raymond (Madeleine), and Aimé (Marie-Thérèse).  Edna, with her shy look but radiant smile, gentle nature and big heart will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews; and by the many friends she met in life through bowling, darts, line dancing and card games at St. Thérèse and St. Felix Parishes.  Special thanks to Christine Prud’Homme for taking care of her grandmother.  A private family service will be held at the Glengarry Funeral Home, 580 Main St. S., Alexandria, ON K0C 1A0, (613) 525-3400.  Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
